Reichen Lehmkuhl's New Book About Air Force Academy Abuse Sure to Raise Wingnut Hackles

Tue Oct 24, 2006 at 08:59:17 PM PDT

Gay "Amazing Race" winner and superstar model Reichen Lehmkuhl's new book, "Here's What We'll Say: Growing Up, Coming Out, and the U.S. Air Force Academy" reveals a behind the scenes look at what life at one of America's prestigious military academies is like for a gay service member. Of course any expose' about the heavily evangelized Air Force Academy is sure to raise wingnut ire and their already on Amazon, having never read the book, preaching their religious claptrap and dismissing Lehmkuhl as an opportunistic, queer "pretty boy" just out to make a buck.
Okay, I never thought I'd be rushing to defend the boy-toy of Lance Bass, but I do believe that the American military's anti gay policies (policies shared nowadays only by former Soviet, Eastern European and Islamic regimes, by the way) are wrong and so totally in opposition of the principles for which this country was founded. Therefore, I have ordered a copy of this book and hope you will consider doing so too...or even wait until you can pick it up cheaper second hand, just to experience what Lehmkuhl went through, living in fear of being outed while trying to serve his country. While you may not be able to feel a lot of sympathy for this admittedly "impossibly handsome guy", as he was known as in an appearance on "Friends" once, his story speaks volumes about the plight of thousands of gay military personnel. If you want to see what gays in this country are up against, just go to the "CUSTOMER DISCUSSIONS" sections on this page...you'll definitely get more than your daily recommended dose of sanctimony!
